Artist Statement
The
process of painting is a constant questioning, a conversation between the
artist and the art. Creating is the continuous decision making of what feels
good and what feels right. When I look at something, I see the lines and shapes
that give the subject its energy. I try to match these flowing lines of energy
to some internal pattern that feels right. Scientists have said we are only
using 10% of our brains. I like to put as much of the rest of it to good use. I
look to this subconscious arena of archetypes to give form to my experience as
a human being. Because we’re a complex species, I believe it is best expressed
using mixed-media and assemblage. The artistic journey is a transformational
experience. You always accomplish a much greater goal than the one you started
with.
